Applications are something new.  Microsoft now has an online app store, so the apps come to you.

Microsoft has said all these app will inter-communicate with one another also.

With Internet Explorer 10 you now also have a touchscreen browser.

Compatibility
On x86 and x64 PCs, Windows 8 supports Windows 7 desktop application and devices so you don’t have to compromise or give
up what you are used to.  On these PC’s your existing windwos 7 based applications just work.

Multiscreen support is standard. with different backgrounds on each.

It appears Microsoft my have a winner here.  With all the different platforms coming especially tablets. I’ll update as more information is released.

Microsoft just released  abeta version if you want to play with it.
