Identifying by chip number is not all that difficult. Looking on the circuit board look for the bigest chip. If there is a heatsink on it, look around. If this is a mother board, look for a part number.
Below is an ASUS audio card. The large chip has numbers try googleing them. Also on the board somewhere is probable the manufacturer part number etched in the PCB.
Below is another sound. Again above the sound blaster logo is the PCB Model number, also remember the chipset numbers.
Below is a more difficult problem. Most of the USB devices have no identifying marks except for the name on the device, if one is present. I have spent hours trying to identifying these. These devices are so cheap you might consider replacing them as opposed to looking for drivers or go back to where you purchased them. If purchased online most sites have a drivers section. Good Luck.
